Face Behind Roj

Beri's Story

I have studied Art and Design at college which led me to study Interior Design. After graduating from Kingston University with First Class Honours due to the pandemic I decided to work as a freelance Interior Designer where I worked on a varied number of commercial projects. Working on certain briefs that requested elements of floristry in the interiors paved my way into my practice.

The projects that allowed me to explore and experiment with elements of floristry opened a new avenue which has led me into creating my own studio. I started with making bouquets for unions. Being involved in the journey of the joining of others gives me immense joy because it allows me to be a part of their newly created memories. Also coming from a Kurdish background, weddings play a big role in our culture, and I enjoy sharing and introducing the aspects of our traditions.

I can say that this is one of my biggest inspirations and the reason for this is because it highlights my background and starts a conversation about Kurdish traditions. Having started from bouquets, now my studio focuses on multiple aspects of floristry. I want to grow my vision and continue to showcase Kurdish culture and pave into set design. Moving forward I would like to create floral installations for events, interior spaces, and editorial shoots.
